Learn to Play, Learn to Skate

Lessons

We’ve started scheduling lessons and privates again at Heatwave Arena!

This is a great opportunity to take your game to the next level — whether you play on the ice or on the roller rink. Use this time to get focused coaching and improve your shooting, skating, positioning, game situations and the mental side of hockey.

Each lesson is 30 minutes, only $20 and is designed for 1–4 athletes per session. Small group sizes mean more reps, more feedback and more improvement. Let’s get better!

Privates

We also offer private and semi-private lessons with any of our coaches! These sessions are great for athletes who want more individualized attention and focused skill development. 

Private lessons are also available for adults looking to improve their skating, stickhandling, shooting, or overall game.

Our Coaches

Our coaching staff brings a wide range of high-level experience.

Some of our coaches are former ice players who have competed at the professional, junior, and AAA levels. Others have extensive backgrounds in professional roller hockey, along with years of traveling and coaching experience.

No matter your age or skill level, you’ll be learning from coaches who understand the game and are passionate about helping players improve.

Learn-to-SKATE & LEARN-TO-PLAY at heatwave arena!

Our Learn-to-Skate & Learn-to-Play Hockey classes offers an exciting opportunity for people of all ages to discover the joy of roller hockey. Taught by experienced coaches, these classes are designed for beginners who are eager to learn the ropes of the sport. Whether you've never played hockey before or want to improve your skills, we'll teach you the basics of skating, passing, shooting, and game strategy in a welcoming and supportive environment. Join us and embark on your roller hockey journey with us at Heatwave Arena!

Youth Learn-to-Skate & Learn-to-Play Hockey Programs

 Schedule (Sundays):

• Learn-to-Skate 1: 11:00 AM - 11:30 AM

• Learn-to-Skate 2: 11:30 AM – 12:00PM

Program Descriptions

• Learn-to-Skate 1
  For beginners who are just learning to roller skate or first-timers.

• Learn-to-Skate 2
  For skaters who have completed Learn-to-Skate 1, have been recommended for Level 2, or already have skating experience (great for ice hockey players and kids with prior skating programs).

Cost

• $20 per session

Ages

• Suitable for children ages 3 to 10.
  (Classes will be grouped by age and skill level.)

Required Equipment

• Learn-to-Skate:

  • Required: Helmet, Skates

  • Recommended: Elbow Pads, Knee Pads

• Learn-to-Play Hockey:

  • Required: Full roller hockey gear
    (Helmet, Elbow Pads, Gloves, Stick, Shin Guards, Rollerblades)

• Learn-to-Skate Advanced:

  • Required: Full roller hockey gear
    (Helmet, Elbow Pads, Gloves, Stick, Shin Guards, Rollerblades)

What Comes Next?

After completing Learn-to-Play, players will receive personalized recommendations based on their age and skill level. The next step may include joining a team in the Heatwave Arena Leagues.
